by M.Mohankumar
A face in the crowd
that struck him
like a tidal wave ,
and disappeared
as suddenly as it came.
He wondered why
he lost his grip,
albeit for a moment,
he who was of
his surefootedness.
That night-
in single-blessedness-
it flashed across his mind,
flashed again and again,
and lodged in his mind.
He felt helpless;
then grew tender,
and a little sad.
And then,
wherever he went,
he looked for that face,
even as he sought
to banish it from his mind.
And now it fills
the space of his mind,
crowding out all other thoughts.
‘What disease is it,’
he asks the doctor,
‘being chased by a mirage?’
